Design Management
Leads and coordinates design consultants across disciplines throughout the project lifecycle.
Design management is about keeping the disciplines aligned from the first concept meeting to the completed tender documentation. Without a clear leader, the disciplines pull in different directions, and the interfaces become zones of conflict rather than collaboration points.
Our role
- Establish and lead design coordination meetings across RIV, RIE, RIA, RIB, ARK
- Set milestones, deliverable requirements and quality targets for each phase
- Ensure cross-disciplinary decisions are made in time and documented
- Follow up to ensure the design team delivers the agreed scope and quality
- Coordinate with the client, project manager and ITB
Phases
- Early phase: programming and concept selection
- Schematic design and preliminary design
- Detailed design and tender documentation
- Follow-up during construction and handover phases
What it solves
- Projects where disciplines work in parallel without coordination
- Documentation that is inconsistent when the tender is issued
- Late changes caused by early decisions that weren't anchored across disciplines
We step in as leader of the design team, or as support to the client's project manager. The goal is that what is delivered to the contractor is actually buildable, cost-estimated and coordinated.
