Maersk Ålesund Cold Storage Facility

The assignment

Maersk planned a new cold storage facility in Ålesund with clear sustainability targets. SustEvo supported the design with a focus on the energy concept, refrigeration engineering, and BREEAM documentation, ensuring the ambition level was upheld throughout the process.

The result

The building was delivered without fossil fuels and is certified BREEAM Excellent. The refrigeration system uses natural refrigerants, recovers waste heat, and the energy performance is well below the reference requirements.
