Maersk Ålesund Cold Storage

The assignment

Maersk planned to establish a new cold storage facility in Ålesund with clear sustainability requirements. SustEvo contributed to the project design with a focus on the energy solution, refrigeration engineering and BREEAM documentation, and ensured the ambitions were maintained throughout the process.

The result

The building was constructed without fossil fuels and is certified BREEAM Excellent. The refrigeration system uses natural refrigerants, waste heat is recovered, and the energy performance is well below the reference requirements.
