Maersk Ålesund Cold Storage

The assignment

Maersk commissioned a new refrigerated warehouse in Ålesund with explicit sustainability requirements. SustEvo supported the design phase with a focus on the energy solution, refrigeration engineering, and BREEAM documentation, and ensured that the project's ambitions were maintained throughout the process.

The result

The building was constructed without fossil fuels and holds the BREEAM Excellent certification. The refrigeration system uses natural refrigerants, surplus heat is recovered, and energy performance is well below the reference requirements.
