Surplus heat: turning waste into a resource
Norwegian industry and data centres generate substantial waste heat. Recovering it can lower both costs and emissions.
Much of Norwegian industry releases low-temperature heat that can be recovered. The same holds for data centres, where cooling loads generate heat well suited to local distribution to commercial buildings, residential areas, or process industries.
The technology is proven. The tougher challenges are usually proximity between source and off-taker, clear contracts for delivery and pricing, and heat-pump designs that lift temperatures to usable levels.
Several Norwegian projects show that payback can be short when government support, CO2 pricing and local district heating networks are in place. SustEvo helps industrial clients map opportunities and design such solutions.
