New regulation on energy mapping for large enterprises
Tightening of the energy management regulation expands the group of companies required to map their energy use — with a deadline in 2026.
The government has announced changes to the regulation on energy mapping for large companies. The changes expand the scope so that more companies than before fall under the requirement for a systematic review of energy use and the identification of cost‑effective measures.
For companies that have already implemented an ISO 50001‑certified energy management system, the documentation requirements will largely be covered. Other companies must complete the mapping by the new deadline and report the results.
We recommend that affected companies clarify their status early, both to ensure compliance and to use the mapping as a basis for concrete measures.
